Restaurant 'Mr. Chicken' in Almancil

"This place has delicious food. I wanted to vegetable soup but we came between siesta hours so the kitchen was closed except for chicken, salad and fries. The chef brought out some vegetables which was nice. (Vegetarian here). I see a lot of reviews saying it’s overpriced for the amount of chicken. My family got the chicken and thought it was delicious. It may be pricey for portugal but compared to what we are used to in the USA it’s cheap. The staff were really friendly. We were the only table since it was the in between time. We arrived at 5 and I believe siesta is from 3-6pm. The fries were delicious. Crispy on the outside and really salty. I liked the green salad. It’s only lettuce and cucumbers with a good vinaigrette. The lettuce was good but not the best I’ve had. We tried all of the desserts. I liked to sorbet in a frozen lemon and the caramel desert was amazing. The worst chocolate cake in the world was pretty good. It had a strange texture but it tasted great! I also had a double expresso decaffeinated. We had some of the house red wine and that was good. I’m not a big wine drinker but I had half a glass. The appetizer with olives , garlic carrots, butter and bread was average. The olives were a little bitter. I really liked the inside decor. There were cartoon chickens everywhere and bright paintings with matching lights all over the restaurant. It’s not a great place for vegetarians but had a cool vibe inside so it’s worth going to check out!"

"Amazing grilled peri peri chicken for the family. I come every year when I come and amazing puddings for the whole family. My children who are usually picky eaters loved the chicken and they had a "Vaky" which is basically a cow with a small tub of ice cream inside, My youngest loved it and took the cow home. An amazing night out and would recommend it to all tourists."

"One of the best meals I've had in Portugal! Our Bolt driver had told me about this place and how he really likes the food eventhough he doesn't work there anymore. When I arrived, I asked the owner what I should order here. He said, "Chicken" and took the menus away! All I can say is get the chicken! Moist, juicy meat, crispy skin, a little bit of spice and oil from the Piri Piri sauce. Extremely delcious! Ordered the fries and the refreshing tomato salad. The half of chicken was so good that I ordered another half. About 10.90 € for half a chicken. The place was fully packed with people and I didn't make any reservations. The restaurant felt like a big living room. Lots of servers and the service was good and quick. Very reasonable price for the Algarve area."
